Are You a Beginner?

Have you always wanted to learn to sing? Do you have a fear of singing in front of people? Have you ever been told you have a poor singing voice? At Armstrong’s School of Singing we can help you over come your fears and start your singing journey!

Singing is a natural human behaviour that is innate in all of us, and choosing to develop your singing is not only going to enhance your voice, but also your life, emotionally and physically. At Armstrong’s, we believe, and have seen firsthand, that any student – no matter who they are – can improve their singing with the correct support and instruction.

Armstrong’s School of Singing offers beginners:

What to expect:

Free consultation

The initial consultation is a friendly and informal first meeting with your teacher. During this half hour you will have the chance to discuss your singing goals and aspirations, Your teacher will also guide through various vocal activities designed to determine your current vocal strengths. With this information we can then draw up your personalised lesson plan.

Lessons

Great singing comes from a balance between the mental, physical and emotional. All students new to Armstrong’s cover an initial 10 vocal modules, irrespective of ability.

Mental state - Conquering your fears & the importance of focus

Finding Neutral - Alignment & the Basic Shape

Preparing your instrument - Breathing & Support

Vibration - Onset & Pitch Change

Every note must move - Line & Vibrato

Cantare come si parla - To sing as one speaks

Vowels & Articulators - Releasing the tongue & jaw

Extending the Range - Navigating the break/passaggio

Dynamics - Intensity, not volume

Style - Interpretation & Emotion.

These modules are personalised using exercises and techniques specific to your vocal requirements, improving your ability to sing safely, increase your vocal confidence, remove cracks and breaks, allow you to sing freely and clearly without any loss of strength, and improve vocal timbre while maintaining your personal individuality.
